Buda and Pest, two twin city’s lawyers founded our modern association in 1866, the “buda-pest lawyer association”, which was the direct predecessor of the system of the bar associations codificated by the Act XXXIV of 1874 on Rules of Attorneys at Law. “Budapest Discussions 2011” conference will be organized in celebration of the 145th anniversary of the foundation of the Budapest Lawyers Association in Budapest between 28 and 30 April. We would like to celebrate this event with distinguished national and international representatives of the various legal professions and legal science.

The program begins with a welcome dinner at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on 28 April, then continues with a ceremonial session of the Board and three parallel section conferences on the next day. Friday evening a prestigious gala dinner will be held at the Museum of Applied Arts to celebrate the event.

On Saturday we offer our guests the opportunity to become acquainted with the cultural and gastronomic heritage of Budapest and its environment.

The dialogue will be about looking for solutions for how the legal profession, foremost lawyers, can contribute to the improvement of the security of documents. Neither modern public administration nor the modern economy can be imagined without natural persons as well as legal entities and state institutions being able to rely on the conclusive evidence of legal documents. Neither can the rule of law and the accessibility of the law be imagined without the security of documents, which is an essential part of legal certainty.

Our conference aims to provide information about such initiatives arising from thought processes generated by these concerns, and then presenting these initiatives to lawyers, heads of public administration and the law enforcement profession.
